This summer, University District is pleased to announce a series of outdoor pop-up experiences for Calgarians to enjoy throughout the season, as well as new retailers who have joined the retail main street, including two openings this week: Monogram Coffee and YYC Cycle.
Village Ice Cream Pop-up
Visitors to the University District Discovery Centre can enjoy an early taste of Village Ice Cream this summer on a weekly basis. Every Thursday, through to September 9, 2021, the Discovery Centre will host a pop-up experience from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Stop by for a complimentary Little Villager single serving of Village Ice Cream.
Donations from this pop-up go to support local charity I Can For Kids, helping feed children and youth impacted by hunger all year long.Village Ice Cream will be opening a permanent location on University Avenue NW in 2022.
Mural Pop-Up Project
The University District Mural Pop-up Project will enhance the vibrancy and liveliness of University District, working in collaboration with local artists. Visitors to the community will have the opportunity to pick up a brush and make their mark on a hands-on piece of artwork outside of the future ALT Hotel. The University District Discovery Centre will be home to featured chalk walls throughout the summer.
Stay tuned for our first murals to appear later this summer.
Zumba in the Park
As health restrictions continue to lift, Zumba in the Park will be held on Saturday mornings at the North Pond Amphitheatre, with certified fitness instructor Monica Lopez.
