Celebrating Community: University District to Host Fourth-Annual Block Party this Weekend
Inviting the city to explore one of Calgary’s fastest growing neighbourhoods and its growing roster of businesses, the U/D Block Party promises free fun for the whole family
University District is hosting its annual outdoor U/D Block Party on Sunday, September 15, 2024. This event encourages members of the Calgary community to explore and enjoy free entertainment, activations and more. Now home to more than 45 businesses and services, the award-winning community will transform into a blocks-long interactive celebration.
What: University District is hosting their fourth-annual U/D Block Party event featuring live music, interactive activations, retail offerings, circus workshops, and an opportunity to explore the latest developments in the area. Live performances including a 7-Piece Bakalao Latin Band, dance lessons by DJ Alexis and the Calgary ProMusica Student String Quartet will take place throughout the afternoon.
Where: Retail Main Street along University Avenue in University District. Media are invited to park for free at University District Discovery Centre at 4410 University Ave NW, Calgary, AB T2L 2K7.
When: Sunday, September 15, 2024 from 1 – 4 p.m.
Who: This event will be open to the public and is free to attend. Spokespeople from University District will be on-site and available for media interviews between 1 – 3 p.m.
Last year’s U/D Block Party attracted hundreds of visitors to the community to embrace unique entertainment, retailer giveaways and more.
Parking: Free parking will be offered from 1 – 4 p.m. and will be marked. University District offers complimentary parking everyday for parkers visiting a business, clinic or office. License plates must be registered by scanning a QR code located inside the business or service being visited. Payment is required after the complimentary parking session expires. Additional on-street parking will be available.
