U/D Welcomes Rohit Communities and Prepares for Annual Block Party

University District, named Canada’s Best Growing Community, prepares for two upcoming events – the launch of a new residential project by Rohit Communities on September 17 and the neighbourhood’s annual Block Party on September 18.

University District is pleased to announce a new residential development from Rohit Communities, which will officially launch and be available for sale on Saturday, September 17.

Dean’s Landing by Rohit Communities will feature 66 stacked townhomes with attached garages, along with 135 condos with underground parking. The development will be situated across nine buildings, including two, four-storey condo buildings, with options including studio, one, two and three-bedroom residences.

The public will have a chance to capture a first look at the Dean’s Landing presentation centre, featuring a digitally immersive home tour experience, at the official builder launch taking place at the University District Discovery Centre, on Saturday, September 17, between noon and 5 p.m.

“We have seen significant demand for our residential and commercial properties in University District, which can be attributed to our mindful design, sustainable features and the community experience we are creating through events, retail offerings, park space and the overall walkability and accessibility of our neighbourhood,” says Maureen Henderson, VP of Community Experience for University of Calgary Properties Group. “Dean’s Landing will provide an appealing purchase option for the many Calgarians who are eager to call University District home.”

University District recently won the 2022 Canadian Home Builders’ Association Award of Excellence for the Best Growing Community in Canada.

Designed with connections in mind, Dean’s Landing will be located near University District’s urban dog park, and close to the neighbourhood’s Retail Main Street, which recently welcomed the opening of Murrieta Hospitality’s Borough Bar + Grill, western Canada’s first Staples Studio, The Hearing Loss Clinic, and Bottoms Up Scrubs, in addition to more than twenty retailers who have opened their doors in the past eighteen months.

“Ours is a unique opportunity at University District. We have very carefully crafted Dean’s Landing to provide a wide range of purposeful designs to fit our buyer’s lifestyle,” says Michael Dziubina, Vice President, Calgary Region for Rohit Communities. “People want to live in University District for all its incredible amenities and Dean’s Landing will allow them to focus on what’s most important to them and their lifestyles.”

Dean’s Landing by Rohit Communities will provide a variety of residential options and floor plans, with the first building due to be completed in 2024.

University District to host Annual Block Party

On the heels of the launch of Dean’s Landing, University District welcomes all Calgarians to its annual Block Party outdoor event on Sunday, September 18th, from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m., taking place along University Avenue.

Festivities will include live music, entertainment, roaming performers, a KidZone, outdoor patios, one-day promotions from U/D retailers, free parking and more.
“Our Block Party is a great way to get immersed in University District and see everything we have to offer, from a retail, residential and recreational perspective,” adds Henderson. “In addition to the many events, performers and activities along our Retail Main Street, visitors can also get a glimpse of Central Commons Park, which will become a four-season attraction and the heart of our community.” Free parking will be available for the Block Party directly south of the University District Discovery Centre, located at 4410 University Avenue N.W.

On Sunday, September 18, U/D’s retail main street is expected to be abuzz with roaming performers, live music, a KidZone and outdoor patios at the annual Block Party.

Adds Henderson, “With so many new retailers in our neighbourhood, it’s extremely rewarding to see our community come to life through events like the Block Party. We love seeing Calgarians explore the area on foot and visit the growing collection of parks, retailers and living opportunities here in U/D.”
Despite a busy summer for the award-winning community, University District is continuing its positive momentum. This fall, University District will welcome Fuwa Fuwa, Almond Nail Bar, Foxy Box Waxing Studio, and the highly anticipated walk-up style McDonald’s Restaurant.
